Since this looks to be DnD related;

The last time me and my friends went into a Tavern, my character tried to use a Telepathy/Deep Speech combination to terrify the shit out of an Orc that was bothering them.

Intimidation check with a D20 and a +5. Rolled a 19, almost perfect. almost.

The check failed because the GM is a complete asshole (said I would have had to beat 30 to pass, when the most I could roll was 25, all under the guise of "teaching me that I can't just intimidate anyone")

Telepathy is actually a good intimidation tactic. What better way to terrify a person, than to get in their heads.

Why not get a new GM then? Since you called him a complete asshole there's probably other stuff he's done to make you think that. Incidentally, that orc must have been pretty badass. The DC for Intimidate is 10 + Targets Wis + Targets' HD. Guess what race has a -2 to Wisdom to start? Yep, orcs. Even if he had a 16 in the stat (The max it can have if it started with 18. Unlikely, again, Orc.), for you to have 'needed at least a 30', it would have had to be level 17. Coupled with the fact that you should have at least gotten a moderate circumstance bonus considering -how- you did the intimidation...

DM's that are willing to cheat like that to 'prove a point' are absolutely awful. I'm sure you can find someone more capable of telling a story properly. I live in the middle of nowhere and it's still lousy with DMs. You could even play on skype to increase the chances further.

Erotic things about their mother.
Kinky things about their mother.
Incestuous things about their mother.
